With the passing of Helen the old world of Athy is nearly gone. The world of Paddy Dillon, Hickey Butchers, Benny Anderson, Leinster Arms, Jim Nelson's Pub, Johnny of the Railway Bar, Mulhall's Fishing Gear, M G Nolan, Sr. Dominic, Tadhg Brennan, Bryan Brothers, O Rourke Glynn, etc etc. flicker in flames of memory. If you remember them, then, like me you are old and when we go, this town will be less for our passing. It is much less for Helen's passing. It was a joy to have known and loved her. So sad to read of Helen's passing. I have lovely memories of meeting and speaking to Helen during her regular visits to her siblings in McD Drive. My sympathies to her extended family, RIP

Deepest sympathy to Helen's son and family. She was such a warm and beautiful person and a friend of my mother's. I've known her since I was a child and will forever recall her beautiful smiling face behind the counter in Moore Brothers, Emly Square, where she worked and where our family shopped. Rest in Peace Helen.
