I remember Helen fondly from her work in the Examinations Office at UCG. She was a kind and generous person who had time for everyone. Her good nature made life a better place for us all.

So many years ahead robbed by so few months. Helen’s warm personality and creative energies brought grace notes to all whose lives she touched in Australia and back in Ireland. Our sympathies go out to Sarah, Deirdre, our sister-in-law Catherine, and to the Byrne family,

I have just watched Helen's service streamed from Melbourne and it was a privilege to be part of it even from far away. It was a reminder of her beauty as a person, kind ,welcoming, generous and caring. And I will cherish those memories of her ,I was lucky to have known her.
Sarah and Deirdre and families, you did a wonderful job preparing Helen's farewell. She will always be with you.x

Dear Sarah and family,

I’m sorry to hear about Helen’s passing. She was a wonderful lady, a kind and sensitive person who cared deeply for all.

As was as her way, she carried her recent ill health with strength and bravery .

While I never got to know Helen terribly well , I always loved seeing her when visiting your house, Sarah.

Having recently moved to Australia - she always reminded me of my favourite Irish aunt, Ethne. I always felt very comfortable around her.

You guys have all been so good during this period. I hope the funeral goes well and we’ll be thinking of you.

Sorry to learn that Helen has passed away, I remember her working in the Exams Office at the university here in Galway. Condolences to her daughters and extended family in Ireland and Australia.

To Sarah and Deirdre and siblings of dear Helen and Byrne and Brett families, my sympathy. We worked together in Galway University in 70’s and 80’s. Bonds of friendship last and we visited Perth and subsequently my colleagues and I brought ‘Three Women - true life tales of World War 2’ from Australia to tour the west of Ireland (Galway Town Hall Theatre, Linen Hall Castlebar, Ballina Arts Centre, Charlestown and to Áras Éanna in Inish Óir on the Aran Islands.
