At yesterday's service, we got to view a fitting farewell to the mighty spirit that was Lena on our TV screens all the way from Perth. Lisa has already conveyed our family sympathies and fond memories of Lena but I wanted to echo a lot of what Nicole so eloquently articulated yesterday in what was a eulogy matching the strength, drive and entertaining nature that was your wife.
I reflected that life dealt her a physical blow early on that tried to dampen her will to live a full one, yet she (and you) gave your children a willingness to spread their wings and fly as high as they each cared to. What a lovely legacy to leave. It is this legacy that has had your gorgeous daughters fly, land and nest in our lives, so we are truly grateful to you both for that.
May you all find the love, strength and memories to sustain you in the coming days, months and years as we reflect on the lessons and laughs that Lena gave to us all.

Through Nicole, our cherished daughter-in-law, we had the luck to welcome and get to know a remarkable family from the lands of Ireland to blend with our own. Over many coffees, even Irish Barry’s teas and sampling different treats, we enjoyed each other’s company.
We reflect on our time with Lena and always a warm smile and embracing hug was given and we all felt her love for all.
We can only imagine how hard this is on you all and the distance doesn’t make it any easier. May she rest in peace.

Lena was always such a glass half full person who would always be happy to share in a glass of bubbly at our family get togethers and special milestone events and Christmas’s! She was always up for a laugh, a story or three and saw the goodness in everyone around her.

She will be sorely missed at the table and one day we will grace the Irish homeland of Lena and pay our respects to such a fierce, loyal, loving and raw woman that is Lena.
It is evident in her children the values she instilled in them and we wish Donald and his family strength, solidarity and peace in this time of grieving.

Lena or Nicole and Ailins mum as I called her was an amazing person. I met her many years ago after I met Nicole in Australia. When Leana and Donal came to visit it was always time for a catch up and chat. Lena loved her family so much and would always say to me how proud she was of them and their achievements.
Lena was never afraid to speak her mind. I believe that is what we in Australia and so many others loved about her. She made us laugh and sometimes cry, and then cry with laughter with some of her stories and subjects we talked about. It was always so nice to have a cup of Barry tea with her and Donal when they visted and have a laugh.
Lena was a very caring loving person who with Donal took me in when i landed in Cork for a week. I was looked after a made to feel so much at home and part of the family. I treasured the time I was there, it was so nice to share thier world for a while.
Lena was a trooper she suffered from health problems but was always keen to keep going. I will miss Lena the visits and the laughter may you rest in peace.

So sorry to hear the sad news of Lena passing. She was a truly wonderful lady, who was always up for a chat and always interested in us and our family. I still remember one of your first trips to the farm and I managed to get the meal right serving fish on Good Friday.

Dearest Donal and family, we are so very sad to hear of Lena's passing. She will be sorely missed.
We have so many wonderful memories of time spent with you both here in Australia. So many, teas, lunches and dinners spent together, with so many stories and laughs shared.
Lena was always as pains to tell me how beautiful our family here is, how lovely our children are and how lucky we are. I loved that about her. She was so generous in sharing those lovely positive comments.
Lena also has a beautiful family, a family I'm lucky to know very well, who are my closests friends.
I know this time is very difficult for you all and you will be grieving deeply, but knowing how loved she was will hopefully bring you some comfort. As will, having each other to lean on.
