Henry (Harry) McElhinney

I was so privileged to meet You, Harry.
You were the best Father to Your two beautiful boys Paul and Cian. You were the best Grandad to Your wonderful grandchildren Meabh, Henry and Tadhg and to my grandchildren Denis and Logan. Harry, You were the best Father in law to Your two so gorgeous daughters in law Aoife and Gillian.
Harry, You were the best Friend to me, to my children Julija and Pranas, to Reda and Simon, to all Your friends and work colleagues, to Your students and to their parents.
You were the best Partner for me, always so loving and caring. Thank You.
Harry, You were the best Uncle to Your nieces and to Your nephews.
Harry, You were the best Teacher.
Harry, You were the best Human being.
You always will be very much missed.
My life is never going to be the same without You, Dear Harry. You are in my heart for ever ever ever ever ever ever...ever until once we will meet again. And then no one is going to take us appart.

I first met Harry in 1977. We've been friends ever since. I put off writing this as long as I could. I thought I might feel better. I don't.

We travelled different paths on similar careers. Mutual interests kept us together down all those years. Even until very recently, we'd meet frequently. We had entirely different perspectives on everything. I never believed a time might come when Harry wouldn't be around any more.

I got the phone call from his eldest son, Paul, that faithful Friday night. I've not been the same since and I know now that I never will be.

My condolences to all those who were lucky enough to meet Harry. I fully understand the depth of your loss. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.

My deepest sympathy to all Henry’s family on his untimely passing. As a teacher, tutor & colleague in Blakestown CS he was such a caring, considerate & fun person to work with. He will be sadly missed by so many but leaves us all with the fondest memories & smiles. Rest in Peace Henry

Henry & I were colleagues for 8 years together at Blakestown CS where I thoroughly enjoyed his individual humour and great company.

As a good friend of the family, Harry was a consistent presence throughout my childhood and adolescence. He was a gentleman in many ways. He was kind, witty and very funny. Very sad to hear about his passing, he will live forever in the memories of those who knew him. Sadly missed by friends, family, and everyone in Clontarf tennis club where he was so popular. My sincerest sympathies to Nuala, Cian, Paul and all the extended family and wide circle of friends and loved ones. May he rest in peace.

Condolences to all of Harrys family. Harry got me started in my first teaching job in Coláiste Dhulaigh and was very encouraging. I well remember the good times of our youth down Oulton Road and around the tennis club on a Sunday. May he rest in peace.

So sad to hear of Harry's passing. We spent some great times battling it out on the Table Tennis table or on the Tennis court. Even when I picture him now, he has a big smile on his face. May he rest in peace.
