I only heard of Herbie’s death now and I want to say how sorry I am to have missed his funeral.
We haven’t seen much of one another in recent years but I have such happy memories of his and your company.

Herbie was a great mate to me in my youth. I have just unearthed b&w photos of our many camping and scuba diving adventures. What fun we had! I now live far away but Herbie has stayed with me in my heart and will be missed.

Just been to say goodbye to our old friend Herbie at his funeral mass. One of the few constants in my life before and after our own dad passed away, was having a chat - often over a Guinness - and finding wonderful things out about that I’d have never heard without him. That’s the gift of old friends, not just the companionship and loyalty they show to us when we are here, but being a window and a gift to the children, grandchildren and loved ones left behind, as they too navigate their own lives without their best pal.
