Deepest sympathy to the extended Byrne family. I remember Hugh when he was attached to the Carriage Office in the 1970s. I was a Dublin Metropolitan District Court Clerk at the time. Hugh was a regular prosecution witness then. He always gave his evidence in a calm, professional and most fair way and was much respected even by those he prosecuted. He was also a very kind and pleasant person when not in the witness box and I had many happy conversations with him. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam uasal
