I wish to express my deepest sympathies to the Cooney family. I worked with Hugh many years ago in Northumberland Road. He was a gent, fun & kind. Stan I'm very sorry for your loss.
I worked in Enterprise Ireland and had the privilege and pleasure of meeting Hugh at the Board meeting in my role in Corporate Governance. I would like to express my sympathy to all those who loved him. I found him to be a warm and giving person with a wonderful sense of humour and also a pride like my own of being part of Enterprise Ireland. God rest his soul.
Mr Hugh Cooney ,I did not know you ,but the night you spoke on The Late Late Show ,I wish I had .Thank You for the very unselfish way you thought of and wanted to help others even though you knew so well you had little time yourself ,you wanted to spend it helping others,.May you Rest In Peace.

To Hughs family my deepest sympathy to you all.I never knew Hugh I felt I knew. Him By his appearence on The Late Late Show. Such a lovely caring kind brave person full of love for most of all his beloved family and extended friends and all who knew him.May his gentle soul be mow at rest .amen

My heartfelt sympathies to the Cooney family. I'll fondly remember the craic and humour we had working with Hugh. A thoroughly decent man who always took an interest in people. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

I read a few weeks back the brilliant piece Hugh wrote in the Sunday Independent.I was touched by his frankness in dealing with his illness and was full of admiration for the man that was Hugh Cooney.I hope when my time comes I am as brave and courageous as he was.Rest in peace and may God comfort your family at this time.
