Hugh was a great inspiration to many country and Celtic entertainers. I first met him when he came to Canada to visit Tommy and Rosheen. He came to a jam session and when he took his left handed guitar out of the case I thought “Oh yeah this isn’t gonna be good”. I’m a lefty myself and I knew how well I played then. Boy was I wrong. Talk about play and sing. From then on whenever he came to Canada he had no reason to bring instruments. I had whatever he needed. And it was a pleasure to have him play them. He also provided the same for me and a place to stay when my wife and I went to Ireland. He even did our laundry and hung my wife’s undies on the line. 😂 We will miss you Hugh. ❤️

Hughie was a good friend and a very good singer, him and I worked in Donegal oil company early sixties he was a good friend of our family, RIP Hughie.

Our deepest sympathies to The McLean Family on the sad passing of Hugh. We only met Hugh for the 1st time in Omagh last May and again in Ardara in July when he joined the band on both occasions. Hugh left a lasting impression on us, a fine musician, singer and gentleman. Rest in peace Hugh.
