We were so very sorry to hear of Hugh’s passing. We got to know Hugh and Faye as neighbours, and Faye and our daughter enjoyed playing together when the opportunity arose. Hugh was always cheery and friendly every time we met and we’re sorry we didn’t have the chance to get to know him better. Our sincere condolences to dear Faye, Jill, Hugh’s parents, Cli and all of Hugh’s extended family and friends.
Hugh arrived in our lives as the friendly new neighbour. We soon realised the smile was always there and the cheer was never fake. Every chat, small or big, always left us feeling better to know someone as wonderful as Hugh. Faye is the star of the show and usually dressed like the princess she is, inheriting Hugh's gift to charm and delight all she meets. Not forgetting Cli, Jill and Mary who were always so lovely to meet and as unbothered by our barking dog as Hugh always was. We are so heartbroken to have lost our special neighbour (so young, so unfair, so tragic) and devastated for his family and loved ones that you all have to carry on without him. We hope that these words will be of some small comfort in the sad times ahead. We hope that knowing the happiness that Hugh spread to so many will help with the healing over time.
To Mr & Mrs. Scully,Jill and Hugh's young family and friends et al, I want to express my condolences on your loss and likewise to convey that of my Father's. I was deeply saddened to hear about Hugh's passing well before his time in this life. Growing up quite some years behind him in Park Lawn...he seemed beyond cool - we were awe struck as teenagers hearing about DJ'ing and the various residencies he played ! Such an immensely talented and successful guy! May he rest in Peace.
To Hughes family and very close friends in particular Shay , I extend my deepest sympathies .
There is a great sadness as we all try to process Hugh’s passing .
It is clear from the many messages that Hugh was much loved and respected . I hope this gives some comfort over time to his family .
Over the years be it downstairs in the Kitchen upstairs in Spirit or a field in Stradbally running (poorly) to see LCD sound system it was always joyful and a happy time to be in Hugh’s company.
The love and boundless enthusiasm Hugh showed for life was always evident.
Hugh will be remembered as a loving father to Faye , son , brother , a loyal friend a DJ of note and that great big smile .

Daft punk is playing in your house .

So very sad. Hugh was a wonderful person, a joy to work with and be around. I'll miss his fabulous ideas and dreams and his incredible positivity.
Sincere condolences to Hugh's family on his passing. I was lucky enough to work with Hugh in his Bleeker Street days on some very fun projects. Hugh was an absolute gentleman and I always enjoyed bumping into him at events over the years, a nicer man you won't meet. RIP
Finding the right words is hard when someone like Hugh leaves us.

Because how do you sum up someone so singular? How do you capture a spirit as generous, wild, brilliant, and tender as his?
Hugh wasn’t just one in a million — he was the one. There has never been anyone like him, and I know with absolute certainty that there never will be again.

We shared some of the best and most chaotic days of our lives in Dublin — careening around the city, trying desperately to hold together our ridiculous, glorious little club night, DiscoAkimbo. It was mad, messy, unpredictable, and occasionally magic, which is to say, it was the perfect metaphor for our friendship.

I look back on those nights and laugh. And then cry. And then laugh again. Because Hugh was the steadying force through all of it, through every misstep, every late flyer, every half-empty room or last-minute DJ swap. He was the one with patience, with grace, with calm. And I know I tested that patience. Repeatedly.

To Hugh’s closest family and friends, I send my deepest, sincerest condolences. Thank you for raising someone who carried so much light into the world.

……and to Hugh…. wow…. I miss you more than words can express. I hope you know how loved you were and still are. I hope you know the mark you left on every one of us. I hope, wherever you are, the sound system’s finally working, the crowd’s perfect, and no one’s on the guest list who shouldn’t be.
Really sorry to hear this sad news about Hugh. What a gent he was! Thinking of all Hugh's family at this really difficult time.
My deepest condolences to all his family and many friends.

Although we have not crossed paths in some years he was a man you could never forget, a true gentleman, genuine, sincere and always brought an abundance of enthusiasm and energy to any conversations. I met Hugh in Abbey Mall in the early 90s, I remember thinking “ The smile, the looks…………. fecksake !!!!!“
I sold records, he sold tapes. We spent the following decade or so crossing paths in radio stations, dance floors and DJ booths.

I was shocked to hear about Hugh’s death. He was a beautiful, charismatic man with a dazzling smile that lit up a room. I had the pleasure to get to know Hugh when I worked as a journalist in the 90s and 00s, covering Dublins club and dance music scene. Hugh was a brilliant Dj and through his residency at the Kitchen was one of Dublins stars. When I think back about those exciting times, Hugh’s irresistible charm and energy always spring to mind. My deepest condolences to all of Hughs family and friends. RIP
To all Hugh’s family, I am so sorry to hear of Hugh’s passing, taken way too soon. I first met Hugh in Clontarf Sailing club as a kid in the 80s and crossed paths with him over the decades that followed. Loved bumping into him out on the dance scene and of course seeing him play over the years. He always had that signature smile and charm that made it feel like it was weeks not years in between meets. He shone and will continue to shine bright through the great memories he made with all he came in contact with through his life x
Deeply saddened by Scully’s passing. A true gentleman and bon viveur and he’ll be sadly missed. They don’t make many like Hugh anymore. Safe journey my friend, see you on the other side.

I was so saddened to hear that Hugh has left us. He was so lovely and kind and considerate. That beautiful beaming smile of his conveyed exactly who he was within. Warm, thoughtful and caring, the kindness and compassion that he showed towards James over the years, right up to the end, made such an impact on our family. He regularly checked in to see how he was doing. Offering help, support and even a job if he could sort himself but. His messages of support to me were always welcome and always helpful. I don’t think I’ve known too many people who possess such a deep rooted decency as Hugh Scully. He was always a welcome presence in our house. Our mam adored him. Who wouldn’t? He was so lovely, even as kid. And that carried through his whole life it seems, as he was as charming and sweet when our paths would cross over the years. He gave the best hugs. We are all so very sad that he is gone and our hearts a bit broken. Our thoughts are with his beautiful family at this truly difficult time. We are thinking of you all.

I couldn't believe when I heard Hugh passed away. It’s so sad. My pal from all those years ago, the grove, the cricket, the plough etc with all the Clontarf boys. We had a really special time down in Feile in the early ‘90’s. I was so happy when we ended up working in The Kitchen together for so many years🙏🏻We gave each other such a big hug every time we saw each other. Hugh was an amazing person, so strong and always made everyone feel happy and at ease.
