I'm former operations manager employed by my mentor and friend Hugo.
It’s terrible to hear about your loss and I express my sincere sympathy to you and your family.
Hugo was one of the kindest people I have ever met. He will be

Desperate news, Hugo and I go back many many years, I was the last Apprentice he the first Cadet with Athel line, So so sad. Hugo was a lovely man. He was hugely knowledgeable and cared passionately about the business in which he was involved. He was someone who was not afraid to speak his mind, but we all loved him for it. A witty presenter at conferences, his delivery was often made with a gleam in his eye, and sometimes in a wickedly humorous way. He will be sorely missed. A true character about whom we will reminisce for a long while to come. My heart goes out to his family. Please accept my deepest condolences.

The news that Hugo has passed away so unexpectedly makes me incredibly sad. His time at John T. Essberger will always be kept in good memory. He was a great colleague and a cheerful, funny and always entertaining conversation partner.

My condolences to you Joan,and the family. During my brief spell at sea Hugo was the man who left a lasting impression on me. I held him in the highest regard and upmost respect. A gentleman with a lot of fun. You both gave me the most rememberable 21st. Will be thinking of you both.

I was saddened to hear that Hugo passed away so unexpectedly. I enjoyed working with him while we were both at Stolt-Nielsen and later as a respected competitor while he was with J.O. Tankers. I enjoyed an evening out with him in London the last time I saw him while attending an IPTA Conference. God bless him and your family.
