My deepest condolences on Hugo’s passing. I have fond memories of Hugo explaining traditions of Dutch cookies on NY eve, and lessons on heating and insulation (which currently are proving very useful). He was a natural teacher and a great conversationalist.

Dearest Margaret,

I'm so very sorry to read of the passing of a true gentleman. Some of the most delightful conversations I ever had were with him in your beautiful garden in Innishannon on everything from language to tides. I'll never forget taking your parents around Charles Fort - your dad was the most knowlegable "tourist" I ever guided and took such delight and interest in every detail.

I have known Hugo since 1970 when he taught a group of us the mysteries of ship design at Verolme Cork Dockyard.
Afterwards I spent a few happy years working for him at Arklow Ship Design.
Hugo was a great teacher, mentor and employer.
