Jackie, I was stunned and very saddened when I heard of Ian's premature passing. Please accept my condolences to you and your family. Ian was a class act both on and off the field and it was my privilege to have known him through rugby going back so many years. My thoughts are with you.

Dear Jackie,
We were greatly shocked and saddened to hear of Ian's sudden death. He was a wonderful friend to Cormac and he will be remembered by our entire family with enormous affection. We are so very sorry we cannot be there on Monday to bid Ian farewell. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sincere sympathies to the Burns family from all at Connemara R.F.C. Ian was always a great friend to our club and graced us with his presence at our recent 40th Anniversary celebration. Deepest Sympathies. Ian was always an absolute pleasure to meet, no doubt he will be sorely missed by so many people. I knew Ian from my work with him in the early 1990s and from then on when are paths crossed it felt like I was meeting an old friend.

On holidays and just heard of the sudden passing of Ian. Very shocked. To Jackie and family my deepest sympathies.
