Dearest Pat, Terry and the entire beautiful MacManus family,

I was so saddened to learn of the untimely passing of Ian. Fortunately you have such a strong and loving family in which to pull strength and support. Never easy to lose a loved one more difficult when out of the ordinary course but having each other to give comfort, allow for reflection of the happy moments you shared together… hopefully makes processing Ian’s passing at least a little more bearable and maybe brings the family even closer together than you were before. Makes all appreciate how precious this life is, and how nothing is more important than the love that comes from having such deep bonds as a family to help each other move on to the next day.

Leslie and I are thinking of all of you and pray you find peace and comfort as you reflect on the happy moments you shared with Ian.

To say we were shocked and saddened was an understatement. Sweet, funny and kind Ian just has to be up there with Gran and Grandad, Ger Whelan and Merette Whelan, making them all smile and laugh. I have such vivid memories of my town in Townparks when Ian absolutely loved Adam Ant. He had Hazel and I dancing and singing along to Stand & Deliver and Goody Two Shoes !! I can still hear him laugh at his own jokes. Sweet and kind Ian, rest in peace and see you again in the future.

I am deeply saddened to hear about Ian's passing. His smile and humorous spirit left lasting memories from our school days together in Rock. Many’s an idea we would all come up with to raise some daily mischief when in school. Those days are cherished and My thoughts are with his family, and I join all his school friends in mourning the loss of such a wonderful person . He will be greatly missed by the Blackrock Class of 1988.

As Ian’s cousin , I remember him as a child , with gentleness, warmth a quiet generosity. I remember his chuckles . His parting, though sudden and unexpected by us, nonetheless the welcoming party in heaven will have been there.
May Ian be blessed, with eternal peace and love , in the merciful embrace of our Father who loves him.

Ian was a good and gentle soul when all is said and done. He'll hopefully find peace now and we will all remember him very fondly.
