Imelda Mulligan

My deepest sympathy to all the Mulligan family on the death of Imelda. I was so sad to hear of her recent passing. She taught with my father, Jack for many years in Kilmacowen National School and was a lovely lady of so many talents. She always remained youthful in spirit and attitude. I owe her so much for introducing so many of us in her class to the joy of choral singing – a joy that has remained with me throughout my life. I hope that she is enjoying singing once more with so many who have gone before her. Thank you Imelda for all you shared with us.

My deepest sympathy to Imelda's brother and the extended Mulligan family on the death of Imelda. My first memory of Imelda was when I was in 1st Class in the Convent of Mercy Primary School and she came as a temporary teacher. Just newly trained she was such a positive inspiring teacher and I never forgot her. I met her in High Street regularly and told her once of my recollection. She laughed and said they were her early days of teaching. Ransboro school were indeed blessed to have such an dedicated teacher for so many years. Rest in peace, Miss Mulligan.

Miss Mulligan taught me and my sister, Imelda Moran, in Kilmacowen National school. We have such fond memories of her. And most especially for her exceptional teaching skills, her caring ways and her kindness in and out of the classroom. I can still clearly see her twinkling eyes, wavy hair and her beautiful broad smile.

We chatted a few times down through the years in Sligo and Miss Mulligan was always the same - a genuine and thoughtful lady.

Rest in peaceful gentle sleep, Miss Mulligan - may heaven be your soft bed.
