Patience Strong
I shall remember this beautiful day
When the last rose of summer has faded away
The fire of the poppy the fern green and cool
The ivory lily afloat on the pool.
The cherries the damsons the wheat turning gold
I shall remember when summer grows old
As life stops the music and changes the scene I shall remember how kind time has been
Our earthly endowment of health and of joy and memories nothing can dim or destroy
The good years together and when we have done
Dancing our way through the bloom and the bliss
I shall remember a day such as this

My sister loved Patience Strong poetry and recently she commented that this represented her married life with David.
She was an incredible survivor even though cancer got her in the end.
She had enormous compassion for children working with special needs children and even sponsoring children in the poorest parts of Africa.
In her younger years she spent a lot of time caring for me and our younger brother Tom. I can’t thank her enough and hope that she now has the peace that passes all understanding.
I grieve and I love.

Dear David, we're so sad to hear that Irene has died. She was such a lovely, good humoured woman, broad-minded, interesting and interested in others. She taught us a lot about nature and gardening when we were only getting into it and the cuttings we got from her, which are now thriving trees and shrubs, will always be referred to as Irene's trees. We know how much you're going to miss her.

Dear Dave we are so sorry to learn of the passing of your behoved Irene.For Many years Irene looked after our son in St Patrick’s and was on the bus daily with him to and from Skibbereen. She was a wonderful Lady ,always in such good form with a great outlook on life. We are truly sorry for you Dave and all Irene’s family that she is no longer with you . May she rest in Peace❤️
