My deepest sympathy goes to Ita's family and friends in their great loss. Ita was one of three women who started Ward Entertainment in St Brendan's (Grangegorman). The others were Sr Eileen ISC and Josephine Fitzpatrick. This provided sessions of music, song and dancing for and by the patients and some staff. Friendships were developed with volunteers and visitors. Outings and parties also featured. This continued for about the last 20 years of the hospital's existence. As one of the volunteers at these sessions I was delighted to make her charming acquaintance.

Sincere sympathies to the extended Beausang and Hogan families on Ita's passing. Her quiet, gentle, and self effacing character and personalty belied the immense work and contribution she made to the academic, educational, and musical life of the country. I was deeply saddened by the news of Ita's death. She was a lovely, warm-hearted lady. Each time we met, often at RTÉ NSO concerts, I was struck by Ita's natural charm, wit, supportive nature and her enthusiasm for life and projects to which she was deeply committed. Ita was a winning pioneer through her love of music and musicians. With deep sympathy to Ita's family. Rest in Peace.

My deepest condolences to all the Beausang family. Ita, through her work made a huge contribution to music in Ireland. She shared her love of music with us all, may she rest in peace.

She was a wonderful optimistic person.When I was a young part-time teacher in the old College of Music and the DIT, Ita was so kind and generous to me. She always encouraged me to keep composing. Her work on Ina Boyle has been invaluable and she has brought the reclusive and under performed female composer from Enniskerry out of obscurity and into the light. May Ita rest in peace.

I would like to express my deepest condolences on Ita’s passing. I had the immense privilege of caring for her for over a year, and during that time, she became someone very special to me. Her warmth, love, and constant smile always brightened my days and made me feel at home.

I am endlessly grateful for the moments I shared with her, for the smiles she gave me, and for the opportunity to witness the wonderful family she had around her. Ita not only left an indelible mark on my heart but also taught me a lot and made me see the joy in the little things.

My deepest sympathy to everyone who loved and will miss Ita. I met her first when she was leading St Anthony's Parish Choir in Clontarf in the 1980s. I discovered later that she was a school friend of Eilish MacCurtain in St Als in Cork. Latterly I had insights into her scholarship at Lectures in The National Concert Hall and through the Ina Boyle work. Gentle, supportive, interested and engaging, she worked and lived and loved with energy. I will miss her letters. Ni bheidh a Leitheid ann aris.

I was sorry to read of Itas death -too late to attend her funeral mass. I got to know her when she was a Director in DIT that was and we enjoyed several concerts together. My sincere sympathy to all her family and to Fr Edmund whom I met with Ita.May she rest in peace.

I am incredibly sorry to hear that Dr Beausang has died. She was an amazing woman who had the rare quality of having very high professional standards as well as making everyone feel relaxed and comfortable. She was incredibly kind to me when I first moved to Dublin and went out of her way to help me. I was delighted to see her in the Pro-Cathedral at our Girls' Choir's concert on International Women's Day last year. And, of course, in her customary fashion, she sent a lovely card into the Pro-Cathedral afterwards.
A very upsetting time for you all but please be assured that Dr Beausang was a deeply loved and respected lady. Her legacy will shine on.

I feel fortunate to have been one of Ita's piano students some years ago. She was immensely encouraging, generously sharing her time and expertise. Ita pushed me beyond my comfort zone, inspiring me to perform at a DIT concert—an experience that remains a cherished memory. Her influence played a significant role in shaping my path into music education. I hold very fond memories of my time with her. My heartfelt condolences to all her family.

My thoughts and condolences to Ita's extended family and friends. I was privileged to be one of Ita'a many colleagues at the DIT/College of Music many years ago, and she was a terrific source of support and, when requested, solace and empathy. I have so many fond memories of these years, and Ita was central to my teaching, gently directing me and providing lots of encouragement too. Even though she was highly organised, she always had time for a quick chat about work, Cork or music!
As a scholar she was ahead of her time; likewise with her educational expertise, and she leaves those wonderful legacies behind.
