I am sorry to hear of the passing of your mother Charlie, and I'm sorry that I was not there to sympathise with you in person. I remember your mother to be a kind lady, who put a big plate of steak, spuds, and cauliflower in front of me on more than one occasion, back in the 80's. I would like to offer my condolences to your siblings Dorothy, Judith and Conor, and to your partners and children as well.

She was a lovely gentle person, and always very kind to our children. So many connections between the families, be it Athenry, Salthill, the med school and Enniscrone, Ita was the one constant throughout it all. All the Quigley family share with Conor, Judith, Dorothy and Charles our sadness on the passing of your mother, our good neighbour of many years, Ita. Our condolences also to her dear sister, Nuala, to all Ita’s grandchildren and all her extended family.

We will always remember that sad day, about eight years ago, when we were with her as, after her painful fall, she left Rockbarton for the last time. She was well cared for then in her hospitalisation, and since, by her great family and by the staff in Belmont. On our visits we saw that she was always comfortably cared for there.

Though the Meehan’s are no longer here in Galway, we hope the friendship between our families will live on.

Dear Dorothy, So much time has passed since we studied Spanish together in UCG but still I have the fondest and happiest memories of our time there. I was heartbroken for you when I heard that your beautiful mother, Ita, had passed. Please accept my deepest condolences. It was a pleasure to have known her. My most treasured memory of your Mum has got to be the beautiful Fair Isle Scarf she gifted me when we returned from our three month EFL teaching stay in Seville. I can still wear it today.

She was so kind.

Her dedication to her family was amazing.

Her dedication to her work at Scoil Chaitríona was likewise.

She always put everyone’s needs before her own.
