Only learned yesterday (11/11) of Hilary's sudden passing. Absolutely saddened and shocked by this news. We worked together in ICI and continued a great working relationship when Hilary moved to Glennons.

Dolores and family, I knew the infamous Hilary through work. Many a laugh we had as we conducted surveys together through the years. No meeting room was too important for Hilary not to barge in (without knocking) to check for a smoke detector. He was a great mentor and always a gentleman. He will be greatly missed. I want to express my condolences to Hilary's family on his passing. It is nearly 50 years since I last saw him, but Hilary and James were a constant feature of our lives as teenagers and early twenties. As others have said, he was a gentleman, well educated, great company and lived life to the full. He was a great hockey player even then, although James may have a different view on who was better. So, again let me commiserate on your loss and hopefully he has left you with a treasure of fond memories. May he rest in peace.

Very sorry to hear the untimely passing of Hilary. My sympathies to all the Brennan family. I knew Hilary through the Insurance industry and also through the wonderful time we had in St James Gate Hockey Club. Hilary was a gentleman, but absolutely became a lethal hitter of a hockey ball when he donned the Gate shirt . Every year he would manage to bag some sensational goals on the grass in the Iveagh Grounds . I always marvelled at how hard he could connect with a moving ball. I am sure he will meet up with a lot of his ex teammates on the grass up above . Rest easy Hilary
