Sincere condolences to all of Jack's family and close friends. He was so likeable, and such a good student and bassist. He will be missed and remembered by all of us who knew him and taught him.

Jack was one of the funniest, most talented people I had the pleasure of knowing, and one of the best people to perform with. I'm so, so sorry for your loss. Rest easy buddy, miss you.

I met Anna Marie in the late summer of 1977 in Hores Stores while our respective Mothers were buying green jumpers & skirts to send us to first year in the Prez.
46 years later I'm writing a condolence about her son, Jack.
It was my pleasure to meet him many times. He had an elusive quality, ephemeral, esoteric, sensitive, empathic and a gentle man in every sense of that term. For the longest time I didn't know whose son he was until Egan clicked
I met Mick many moons ago. A creative genius, a multi tasking, multi talented individual spoken highly of by anyone who had the pleasure of working with him.
Jack didn't lick it off a stone.
He was the best of both of you, and loved by so many as is obvious from the outpouring of multiple messages to you both, his sister Martha and all his family and friends.
He reminded me of Nick Drake in his earnest dedication to music and his sensitive nature.
I believe souls journey this lifetime to learn lessons and when they're learned we go home.
Steve Jobs last words were "Wow Wow Wow!" because he caught a glimpse of where we go.
To his distraught family I offer the hope that from the space he inhabits now he sends you the blessings you need to cope with his unbearable absence, and the comfort to accept it, in the knowledge we are eternal energy, because he, you, I and everything that exists, from black holes to quarks is only ether, spinning.

Jack Egan - what a gentleman. I had the honour of meeting him and becoming friends with him in college.
His aura, kindness and sense of humour was infectious and never failed to put a smile on the faces of the people around him.
No words can describe his loss.

Jack was a very kind and considerate friend. I met Jack in Cork a few years ago when I first moved there. He was one of the first people I met, and he made me feel welcome. Though I have left since, anytime I have visited, he always made sure I wasn't stuck for a place to stay or that I was ok to drive home late at night from any gig we went to.

He always took interest in everyone's music. It could have been a big release, or a small cover song, Jack took the time to listen and always asked how things were going, as well as offering his help and advice on any possible future projects.

Jack was a brilliant friend to so many people. His humour, his friendship, his smile and his kindness will be missed.

I have been unable to write before now. Anna-Marie, Mick and Martha I've already told you all how much I contine to love Jack and how sad I am over his passing.
He truely brought so much joy, light and laughter to my life. I am aorry for all those who will never get to meet him and never get a chance to know the man who brought so much to this world. I had always thought he would be an uncle to our future children, Josh and I are truly devastated and send so much love to the whole family x
