Very sorry to hear about Mr Foley's passing. He was a gentleman and a scholar. I remember him with great fondness and respect from my school days, and later meeting him out walking around Pollahupple. He was such a nice man, with a quiet spoken wisdom. Rest in Peace.

We played handball together in the South Ulster League in the early 80s for St Mellans Handball Club ( Truagh) Co Monaghan , we used the handball court in St Aidens comprehensive school for our home matches. Sincere condolences to all Mr Foley's family. Mr. Foley was an inspirational teacher and in particular opened my eyes to the joy of the natural world around us. 40+ years later, I still remember being amazed at the life he taught us doing pond/water dipping behind the Comp somewhere.

Deepest sympathies to Jack's wife Claire, his sisters and the extended Foley family on his sad passing. I was priviliged to have been taught science and then Biology by Jack throughout my 5 years in St. Aidan's Comp. He was an excellent and inspirational teacher who brought great enthusiasm to the role and clearly loved his job. I learned so much from him that remains with me today. Also have fond memories of the slide shows in Room 29 of the "extension" where he shared photos of his many exciting trips abroad. Thanks Jack and Rest In Peace. Sarah (McCluskey) and Sean.
