As has been truly reflected here, I remember Jack as a very good man, a gentleman. I have many examples of his kind nature, but one stands out. Sean and I were good friends and in the same class in AVS. During the Leaving Cert exams Jack would collect us from school after the exams. One day I was doing an exam that Sean wasn’t. It was a mizzly, miserable day. As I was preparing to wait the hour or so for the bus, feeling a wee bit sorry for myself, Jack just appeared to take me home. It may seem like a relatively small thing, but it was not insignificant. It encapsulates the kind of thoughtful man Jack was. Condolences to Sean and all the Furey family at this time of sadness and positive reflection on a life well lived.
