Jack HANNA

Jack was a lovely, gentle man, a great colleague in Irish Press days. I’ve happy memories of him then and later, when his book about his life with Brighid and Davoren, The Friendship Tree, was published — and of an afternoon in Malaga, when he guided me and my late husband around the city. Jack's warmth, his kindness, his sense of humour, his very lightly worn erudition were very special qualities that went to make up a truly endearing human being. Happiest memories of working with Jack in Irish Press and Irish Times, and of knowing him even earlier in UCD. His devotion to Davoren as long as he lived was inspiring to see.

I'm thinking of you all and the richness of life we have had in our own chapters with Jack (and family) during his remarkably understated and rich life.
Jack, Brighid, and Davoren brought great intrigue and life to Bantry Rd back in the 70s. I was 14 years old when i met Davoren and his Mama and Papa. A window to a great 'hippy/bohemian' world was opened. Through ups and downs, tears, and lots of laughter, Jack fostered friendships through the years, in shadow and light. His essential kindness and acceptance of the human condition carried me ( and many others) over the years. Eternal gratitude to your mighty spirit, dear Jack. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis. Huge heartfelt condolences to family and friends. I had not seen Jack for a number of years, but I always held extremely fond memories of Jack, Davoren and Brigit. I was one of a number of prople who surrounded Davoren some years back.
