Deepest sympathy to all on this very sad occasion. I regret very much that I will be unable to attend to honour Jack on his final journey. He was a very professional officer and his innate sense of humour was always to the fore. May he rest in peace.

Fear griúil cáirdiúil cneasta agus fear a bhí i gcónaí ar bharr a phrofisiúin mar Oifigeach sinsereach sa Cór Ordnáis. Ba onóir dhomsa mar Oifigeach seal ghearr a chaitheamh ina comhlúdar. Bhí blas is líofacht teanga iontach aige agus is cuimhin liom aiste a scríobh sé as Gaeilge a fheidfá usáid ina gineráltacht ; ba cuma cé'n ábhar! Ár smaionta is paidreacha lena chlann ar uair a chailliúnt tragóideach. Ar Dheis Dé a anam dílis.
