Thank you for aways making sure we had had enough to eat and never failing to offer up some of your biscuits.

Thank you for posting half-finished crosswords to London so we could still do them together after I moved away.

Thank you for looking out for your community and having such a positive effect on countless lives.

Thank you for always being our knight in shining armor whenever we needed you. I’ll never forget my mam turning to me in the middle of a travel crisis in Charles De Gaulle airport and saying: “When in doubt… call your Grandad.”

Thank you for being the best dad to Ciara and Orla and then for being the best grandad to the four of us. You made it look so easy.

Thank you for making my Granny happy and for showing me what true love looks like - even when that meant smuggling vodka into Beaumont Hospital.

Thank you for loving us so fiercely for so long.

And, lastly, thank you so much for allowing us to be a part of your wonderful life.

There will be lots of tears because we will miss you but there will be so many smiles because we had you.

For many years Jack was president of our local St Vincent de Paul conference in Raheny where we all met up each Monday night.
He was a very charitable person and did a lot of unheralded good work.
