My sincere condolences. I knew Jack back in the late 80’s and early 90’s when he taught me P-Chem at DIT. I loved his class and he was always so enthusiastic. I also remember he had a great sense of humour. One of the good ones.

Sincere condolences to all the Treacy family. I had the pleasure of working with Jack in my first few years in DIT as it was then. As a young lecturer fresh in the door he was so generous with his time. Be it to offer his help with a practical or advice on the best way to approach lecturing atmospheric chemistry. He wasn't just a work colleague however I will miss the stories, the hot water and lemon and the laughter. May he rest in peace.

I met Jack early in October1972 when we started our studies in UCD together. During our undergraduate years, Jack was a meticulous note taker at lectures. I regularly sought Jack’s help in the tricky areas of mathematics and chemistry. He was always a gentleman, offering his support freely and calmly. This extended to a wider group – not only for study but also for soccer in the UCD Superleague. I was in awe of Jack’s skills and also that he played full back for Carlow’s GAA football team. When we moved on to postgraduate research in Chemistry at UCD, Jack continued to be core in our group. Again, he shared his knowledge in the manner of a true friend; particularly about high vacuum equipment. All of these characteristics would have contributed to Dr. Jack’s abilities as a great lecturer. Anne also recalls Jack’s gentlemanly nature. We were delighted that Jack attended our wedding. Jack was a most pleasant neighbour and was held in high esteem by all around him. We watched and participated in the Webcam Mass in Dundrum and it was such a consoling and uplifting experience. The combination of Father Bracken's eulogy and that of the Jacqueline, Mark and Lorraine was a magnificent tribute to a talented and loving father. Jack will be missed by many.

I will always recommend Jack as an amazing person, such an inspiring soul, an amazing lecturer and someone who really enjoyed life.
Once he said in Class that he loved working with young people, because it kept him young in mind. I will never forget that.

I worked in Kevin St in the Engineering School but had good cooperation with Jack over the years. A really Nice and pleasant man who loved his students and this came out in the way that he dealt with them and all around him.
