Jackie was an exceptionally good tractor operator. My earliest memory of Jackie (circa 1961) was rotovating for my father (T.L. Dennis) in Gleanafein and fearing that both he tractor & rotovator, would finish up in Lough Ine lake, but he completed the task like the professional that he was - perfect.
Jackie had a great wit & was very matter of fact. On meeting him, a few years ago, doing some late night shopping in Skibbereen, I enquired "how everyone in Ballymacrown and the locality were getting on "? Jackie's quick retort was " Those who know each other are doing ok".

He always sat in the same chair at the top of the table and we’d always be made get up out of Jackie’s seat when he was being called in for dinner.
