What a lovely man he was. Knew him as a neighbour growing up, playing his accordion at the station. Then he used to stroll over to us building our house nearby, sharing great stories of the history of our site. Rest in peace Jackie.

As a little girl some of my fondest childhood memories involve a station night or a night at Spillanes Bar , graced with Jackie’s unique musical talent . I remember summer day’s walking to Jackie’s house to spend the day with his Niece Ann who’d be visiting from England and us walking to Ada’s shop for ice cream cones . Summers seemed a lot warmer then and neighbors were really extended family . Nobody locked their door in those days and Jackie , his Dad Murray and brother Andy were our neighbors , and the best neighbors one could wish for .
I can only imagine that’s it’s a lively night in heaven tonight as they welcome their beloved accordion player back home . There will be great rejoicing , music and song with many’s a half set danced . I can see in my minds eye the great welcome up there for Jackie amongst my parents and all the neighbors , laughing and reminiscing on their various roles while here on this earth’s stage.
Rest in Peace for now dear Neighbor until we all meet again one day . Sincere condolences to Kitty , Ann & John and all extended family-
