JAMES AUGUSTINE (Austin) CLIFFORD

Today is St Patrick’s Day and I was making calls to my relatives in Ireland to wish them the best on St Pat’s Day. That is when I learned of Austin’s passing. Our deepest condolences to the family of Austin from my family over here.

In the 70’s and 80’s Austin was a regular visitor to my Parent’s home in Northeast Philadelphia (5655) when Austin lived and worked here. So many stories of Ireland and family roots.

Austin was a gracious and friendly person who loved his Irish Roots. He will be missed! May he Rest In Peace!

It was with deep regret we heard of Austin’s death. He was a true gentleman. We have many fond memories of visits to his home in East Ferry and of his visits to Kiltimagh. He was a very good friend of my uncle, Tom Brennan, and my aunt Margaret and her husband Michael Gallagher while he lived in Philadelphia. We also considered him as a special friend.
We offer our deepest sympathy to his brother Dennis and all extended family. May Austin Rest In Peace.

We were very sad to learn of Austin's passing. Sincere sympathy to all his family on their sad loss. He was a truly wonderful friend to all the Ford family in Philadelphia. And I had the added joy of having visits to Austin in East Ferry with my brother Brendan and husband Martin. Austin loved his retirement and he always had a warm welcome. He will be sorely missed and remembered with love. Rest in Peace Austin.

Our condolences to Denis and family in Cloyne and Ann and family in Birr on the loss of Austin. He was an especially kind and ever good humoured man. We loved seeing him arrive at family gatherings in Creggane, driving all the way from his house of many steps in East Ferry, to see us, before heading on to Matt’s in Birr. Austin, who was the image of his aunt Nora, our grandmother, would sit in the sunny afternoon orchard and catch up on news and events with our father Oliver Conway. Austin was a gentle soul who will be sadly missed.

I’m sorry to hear of Austin’s passing Denis. It’s a fact of life of course that time marches on but it’s still a sad occasion when it touches us personally like this. I had Mass offered for him today. Hopefully we can get together later in the year. Love to Bina and all the family.

Our condolences to the Clifford family on the passing of Austin. We have many happy memories of Austin. Often whilst working in our garden next door in East Ferry we would get a call from over the hedge to come and join him in a glass of wine on his patio. That was the end of the gardening. We enjoyed our chats with him and hearing his many stories of his life in America. He will be greatly missed.
