James Butler

A sad loss, Jim was a true gentleman and supportive of my time on Kells Town Council. Time passed and we lost touch, but remained always in our mind recalling stories of our political journeys. He will rest in peace.

Sincere condolences to Jim's family on both sides of the Atlantic. I hope you are all able to find some comfort with your many memories. My late wife and I were privileged to get to know Jim as fellow patients at the clinic at BI, and enjoyed many conversations about literature and film. Several times Jim was kind enough to drop off much appreciated Irish pastries, sweets and tea with Victoria while she was in hospital. We both admired Jim's care for his family and his perseverance in adversity. A gentleman.

We've only just heard this awful news. Sincere condolences to all of Jim's family here and in America. We were friends and colleagues in Fingal Co Council in the 1990s. He was the loveliest of men. Jim and Evelyn.

Matt, Teddy, Charlotte and all of Jim’s family, I am so saddened to read just today of Jim’s passing. What a loss to all that knew Jim. He has always been a bright shining light and that light will continue to shine through you. So sad to hear of Jim’s passing. Sending condolences to all his family and so many friends. I first met Jim at the Skellig, in Waltham way back, such a sweet and honorable person, always one for a chat and the craic. He loved the arts and wouldn’t miss an Irish film screened in Boston ever. I would always expect a text from him asking if there were any extra tickets avail for sold out show and for Jim we always had a seat! He loved his kids to the moon and back and was deeply committed to his friends and family. He will be dearly missed in Boston.

RIP Jim, hope you’re running marathons and watching some great flix over the 🌈.

Thirty four years ago, I first met Jim shortly after arriving to Kilkenny County Council. The music and dancing of Clare had to match the hurling of Kilkenny. Along the way, he came to Miltown with the boys, built stone walls at my house, danced as if he was in Riverdance and so much more fun times.
So sorry to hear of the passing of Jim having to leave this life and my sympathies to all his family, partner, great friends and especially his beautiful children Charlotte,Teddy. You touched many lives and always will.

So shocking to hear the news of his untimely death. I hope it is of some comfort to see how much he was liked by all that met him. He had a loving and warm personality that drew people to him.
