It’s now just over 3 weeks since my brother James died. He was only 65 but he certainly made an impact to all who knew him. James was so fortunate with his friends , neighbours and wider community in Harold Road, Manor Street and Stoneybatter who minded him. His work colleagues in HSE Cherry Orchard Stores were a real support to him over many years. We were so humbled by the number of his neighbours who paid their respects to James at both Bourkes Funeral Home and again at his funeral mass in Aughrim Street. We were so moved by the Guard of Honour from James’s neighbours on Harold Road as James took his final journey on that Friday. Thank you all for caring so much for James. He is at peace now. Remember him fondly please. He was a better person thanks to you all. Joe

We lost James on Sunday morning last. Very unexpected but it happened so quickly and thankfully peacefully. Poor health eventually caught up with James . He was blessed with a very kind pharmacist in recent years (Janet Dilllon) who always sorted him out, We suspect (we know) The Coffee shops in Stoneybatter lost money on James with all the freebies he got. His GP( Stoneybatter Medical) was GP to James for over 6 decades and they just got James. His neighbours on Harold Road and nearby streets/ roads always looked out for James and we are so grateful to you all. James was a legend in his own unique way. James had great neighbours who looked out for him especially his next door neighbour of over 65 years Robert Ryan and his over the wall buddy Christine. PLEASE join us along with James’s neighbours, family and friends for his final mass in Aughrim Street church where James will be the guest of honour. Thank you sincerely to you all for your kindness to and understanding of James in whatever your connection was with him. Niamh and I wish to express our sincere thanks to our own children Stephen, Barry and Kate for the care, minding and fun they gave to James over the years. James was a better person for their input. Again, please join us on Friday in person or online to give James a proper Stoneybatter farewell. Thank you all so much.
