A huge loss to you all and to his bigger Inishbofin family too. Sorry we could not attend his removal or funeral mass. We will miss seeing James on his high stool in Murrays. He was a true gentleman and always had time for a chat while passing the way. We also enjoyed some of his delicious homegrown vegetables over the years. May James now Rest in Peace.

We are so saddened to read of James’s passing and send our sincere condolences to Patsy, John, James and all the extended family on your great loss. He was one of the first people we met on the island many moons ago and made us so welcome there. He was such a gentle, kind and very interesting man who chatted away while tending to his garden or doing other chores around. May he rest in peace in God’s eternal garden now.

We were so sad to loose so many precious friends ‘this year on bofin. But now dear James. The historian the singer the storyteller. I remember James elegantly guide Patsy around the bar in Murray’s to strains of Leo’s wonderful rendition of the Tennessee Waltz. Then a song from both patsy and James. Story’s told like only James could tell them. halcyon days. Our sincere sympathy to patsy boys and their lovely families.

He was always a pleasure to meet and chat with , his wonderful evocative storytelling matched only by his wit and quiet wisdom.I will miss the sight every summer in the fields of Westquarter of James gracefuly swinging his hayfork and at the end of his days toil sitting on a high stool in Murrays drinking a pint of the black stuff Master of all he surveyed.May the lord grant him eternal rest .

James was a most lovely proud Bofin gentleman who was always welcoming, kind & I loved his positive outlook….. he always had jobs to do!..his garden was a work of art, at any time of the day he could be seen helping out on the farm with John & grandchildren. His stories of his beloved Shark & its people will always stay with me. The lovely “ voice of Bofin” is now resting in heavenly peace. He will be missed by many.

We have no words to express our sympathy on the death of James. It's hard to imagine the island without him. He was part of it's geography. Rest easy now, you kind and gentle man. Love and thoughts to all the family 💫
