Dear Jay and Deirdre,
Their is know words to say how much we all LOVED Jay, we all grow up together, and all the memory's i have of Jay are all happy one's,he always put others before himself most of all his little brother whom he loved with a vengeance.I want you Jay and Deirdre to no that when we were kids,we would all go swimming over at the wall at the old slip and we were playing on a raft,we were all jumping on and off, but the rope that had us tied to the wall,some how it was untied ,so everyone jumped off or swam back,but their was one girl that couldn't swim so i stayed with her she was so scared the current got a hold of us a started to drag us out to see,when i looked back at them all thay were all shouting jump, swim back ,but then from the corner of my eye i see little Jay running the wall ,over a fence and up the blue cairn to the driver and he radioed for a boat and he saved our lives most of all the girl that couldn't swim ,that girl was Christine Manley from Pearse Street,I just wanted you both to know that your son was a hero in my eyes all my life ask ant one of his friends and thay will be able to tell you the same thing,as a mother i can't begin to know what you and all the family are going through,but i am one of the lucky ones that got to know him and grow up with a gentleman,he will always be in my prayers .

Deepest condolences to all the family.
To say I am saddened by the loss of one of my best friends is an under statement . Not a moment of the last couple of days has gone by when I haven’t thought of all of the Byrne family and what you must be going through.
I have also remembered all the good time we share together,
