Our sincere condolences to Breda and the Boland Family on the sad passing of Jim. A stalwart to those who knew him in the vintage movement. May he rest in peace.
What a lovely send off, tributes paid and stories swapped today for a great motor man and pillar of the old car movement. Jim was an affable gentleman with a huge wealth of knowledge which he shared enthusiastically with so many people, young and old. This included myself in his help over the years with research of the old car movement in Ireland, not to mention the innvaluable advice given on purchasing various old cars. Jim was a friend of my late father Joe Snr since the early days of the IVVCC and I cherish the many spins on rallies in the big Bentley, the Bianchi or the Stanley Steamer, be it at the airshow at Abbyshrule in the seventies, a Gordon Bennett rally or at Stradbally. He was always so welcoming to the garage and to his home. My deepest sympathy to you Breda, John, Tony, Jim, Alan and to the extended Boland family at this sad time. Rest in Peace Jim and thank you for all you have done in promoting and sharing our love of vereran, vintage and classic vehicles.
