May 2020. I only learned today of the passing of Jim, a very old friend over the years. He was a professional in his work, and showed great kindness to his colleagues. He never forgot his old friends as he rose through the ranks of The Irish Times. In 1986 Jim hired me to commission the new Uniman colour press and gave me great support in the very difficult days/nights. Over the years we developed a warm friendship through the Irish Times, the Board of The National Print Museum, on the golf course and on the very many technical visits we made abroad.
