He was a lovely man and always took a genuine interest in what I was doing, what I was studying and what I wanted to do in the future. We had great fun talking about history, literature and politics - especially our differing views on FG! He was very much loved and appreciated and will be missed hugely.

Our sincere condolenses to all of the family of Jim & his very wide circle of friends & colleagues. I have very fond memories of working with Jim in the old TEIS/eBS/Lancomm days & then for a while in eircom as well. We worked out of the Naas Rd office & this was a real family athmosphere. In no small part created by Jim. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.

Very sad to hear Jim is no longer with us. But he will live long in our memory. Jim and I worked in TEIS/EBS where he was a loyal colleague and supporter to myself and everybody there over the years. A great manager with the human touch and good humour in every situation. Jim was a gas man and the stories about him are legendary. His fierce loyalty to Mayo GAA survived through many losses and all his years in Dublin. My thoughts and deepest sympathies are with Sinéad, Enda, Treasa, Gráinne, the extended McNicholas family and all his friends, especially Eileen. Rest in Peace, Jim.
