I am still so shocked to hear of Jim’s sudden passing. He was my first boss when I joined The Irish Times, straight out of college and he thought me so much about sales, I still reference his “reach the ones that count, don’t count the ones you reach” line. When he left to set up his own company it was truly inspiring. He then became my client which was quite funny, being on the other side of the negotiating table with Jim - he always got the best deal for his clients but in the most charming way!
To know him was a pleasure and I can’t imagine life for Elaine and the girls without him but his spirit and the mark he left on this world will live on forever.
RIP Jim.

Dear Elaine, Kate, Ciara and Erica and all Jim's extended family, I am so very sorry for your great loss. It is still so difficult to comprehend.
Having worked with Jim in The Irish Press and The Irish Times for 14 years, I had the great privilege of calling him my friend. Those were the days with lots of fun and laughter along the way.
Elaine, I have such fond memories of when you and Jim met with the assistance of Samantha. I remember how proud Jim was to call you his wife. On your wedding day, he was like ‘the cat that got the cream’ and little has changed since then. His love for you and for his girls was plain for all to see. He was so proud of his family and you did him so proud in his final journey with such a fitting tribute to a special man.
Jim, thank you for your friendship over the years. You are the real deal, genuine, authentic and you definitely made the world a better place.
Rest well now dear friend until we meet again.

I will miss Jimmy and his wonderful smile which brightened up any room he walked into, a lovely friendly chatty gentleman who had time for everyone. I first met Jimmy when I joined the Donaghmede Athletics club as a ten year old boy, at that time he was one of the stars of the club in his age group, a fantastic runner especially at cross country. Soon after I became aware of his brilliant goalkeeping skills. As talented as he was he never looked down on us lesser skilled club mates and his broad smile always made you feel accepted and included. God bless you Jimmy you were a beautiful person and the world is a little darker without you. Love and Best wishes to Jimmys heartbroken family.
Dear Elaine, Kate, Ciara and Erica, we were all so deeply saddened to hear about lovely Jim Mooney. Thinking of you all at this very difficult time.

Elaine & girls I’m so sad to hear of Jim’s sudden passing. Devastated for you all. In time, may the memories give you comfort but for now mind each other. May Jim rest in peace & stay forever in your hearts. ❤️ Nicola & Tom Delaney, Athlone (formerly Louisa Valley, Leixlip)
Dear Elaine,
I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jim. It is truly heartbreaking to lose him so young, but especially someone who was so universally loved and admired.
I will remember Jim as a special person who had a way of brightening up the day of anyone he came into contact with. I would metaphorically fist pump the air when I’d see Jim catching the same Monday morning train to Connolly, as it meant we could catch up on all things sport, especially his beloved Leeds after the weekend!
From our many chats, I will remember Jim as a man who was full of love and appreciation, especially when it came to his beloved Elaine and his three girls. He was so proud of you all.
I had the opportunity to seek his advice recently and he was as generous and giving with his time and wisdom as ever. He was a true gentleman, and his passing will leave a void in the lives of all who knew him. I hope that you find some comfort in the memories you have of him, and that his legacy of kindness and generosity will continue to inspire you Elaine, Kate Ciara, and Erica .
Please accept my heartfelt condolences for your loss. May Jim rest in peace.
Sincerely,
Ronan
