Jim was engaging and interesting in every way. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Sincerest condolences and sympathy to Michelene, Niall and Catherine.
Jim’s dying has gouged out a big hollow as he was the epitome of generosity, kindness, thoughtfulness, goodness and charity. Not just talking but by doing and achieving.
His own poem on the back of the memorial leaflet and Niall’s words at the funeral echoing the generational motivation anddirection of the OHiggins family says it all.
“To understand and feel for others no longer self, sense the glow of sharing kindnesses.”
In the over half a century I have known Jim, and even longer Micheline, I’ve only seen kindness and thoughtfulness for others which leaves the rest of us mortals feeling pretty inadequate.
His quiet sharp brain with a joy and willingness to enjoy a quirky laugh with humour ….without a barb left one feeling, to quote “The richer for having spent time in his company.”
He will be long missed but well remembered.
May his generous soul rest in peace
Fondest love,
Cyril and Jill Forbes.
Sorry to hear of the loss of your dad Niall and condolences to Jim's extended family and friends on their loss.

I joined his funeral mass from my home in Provence on a beautiful October day and I have been enriched at listening to the generosity, kindness, brilliance and love that Jim showered on everyone who came into contact with him throughout his life, especially his family. What a legacy. May the pain of his passing be replaced by the joy of a wonderful soul who is still with you albeit out of sight.

Dearest Micheline, Niall and Catherine, we were so saddened to hear about Jim's passing, so many fantastic memories since we were kids, not to mention the hundreds of dinner parties that Frank, Gemma, Mich and Jim and all the gang hosted in an almost continuous manner. Much craic was apparently had , I don't think any of the gang ever arrived home at the time we were told to expect them lol but that was the craic of the 80's. Jim was always such a gent, always smiling and I loved the chats which were always forthcominig. He will be a huge loss for you all, i have such fond memories of himself and Dad roaring with laughter over a glass of vino or two. Much love and our sincerest condolences . May Jim rest in peace.
