James (Jim) O'Shaughnessy

Jim's wife Mairead and family, would like to express their deep gratitude to all who attended the reposing, funeral mass and burial and to all of those who expressed their commiserations and sent mass cards. It is deeply appreciated.

Sincere sympathy to Mairead & family on the passing of Jim. It was always a pleasure to meet him in Royal Tara and chat about sporting matters. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

Jim was a kind and solid principal in st finians never had a bad word to say about him. A giant to us as children back then.
To jims family my deepest condolences please know that he made pupils what they are today as role models dont come by too often back then.

We were so shocked when we came home to hear of Jim's death and our hearts are sore with sympathy for you Mairead and all the family. He was a lovely man and raised a great family. May he rest in peace

It was with great sadness that I heard of Jim's death today. May I extend my deepest condolences to you Mairéad and your your family. Sincere condolences to the family of Mr O’Shaughnessy. Most of my childhood memories revolve around St Finian’s and Mr O’Shaughnessy. One stand out memory is him going above and beyond principal duties allowing night time Youth Clubs to be run on school property to help youth of Finglas South. This was during times when keeping children occupied and engaged was of upmost importance.
Rest in peace Mr O’Shaughnessy your legacy will live on in those who knew you.

RIP Mr. O'Shaughnessy... An excellent school principal, did a great job in the 1980s in St. Finian's and during a time when there was little money available around in Finglas. He ran the school shop too from his office... Mars Bars, United bars and the like!... A decent man... God bless him.

Jim was a fantastic principal, have such fond memories of him. He dedicated his life to St.Finians. A huge loss, beautiful man. May he rest in peace.

Mairead and family, Jim was a truly wonderful uncle. He was kind hearted, generous and had a great sense of humour. We held him in high regard and have many fond memories of good times spent together. Our late Mum and Dad absolutely adored Jim and Mairead. The mass today was a fitting tribute to his life and all that he did for his family, friends and pupils. May he rest in peace.
