So sorry to hear of Jim's passing. A true gentleman and a good neighbour, he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. I recall how impressed I was many years ago when I saw Jim, in the green at the edge of Retreat Park, ascending a precarious long ladder, holding a chainsaw, to reach a huge chestnut tree branch which had been damaged in a storm and needed lopping. In the days before Health and Safety, that was a job which required a head for heights, bravery and stamina - and Jim met all of those requirements.

As a young boy, I have such fond memories of you both from your time in Dunmore, especially with the horses, and of your stories from your time in South America. The two of you were my intrepid explorers, off to see the world! They will be fastened in my happiest memories of a man with the kindest eyes, a gentle hand and a heart of gold, supported by Marie, who shone like the warm sun, everywhere she went.
