I woukd just echo all the wonderful things which have already been said about dear Jim - especially in Eoghan' beautiful poem. To me, Jim was a good friend, a natural storyteller, a marvellous local historian, a diligent genealogist, a perceptive theatre and music critic and, above all, a thorough gentleman to everyone he met. May his gentle soul rest in peace, with all the Tancred generations in his beloved Ardclough

Jim was a wonderful, kind friend whose smile lit up the room. We will miss the twinkle in his eye when he recounted an anecdote from his prodigious store of memories.
Jim was modest and unassuming about his great knowledge of local and national history, generously sharing the results of his meticulous research. He was also a terrific and entertaining theatre critic.
Above all, we will miss Jim's company.

Deepest condolences to all Jim’s family on his passing. A man of immense knowledge of all local history, shared so gracefully with all who sought his help or advice . A true historian of the old school who carried his knowledge lightly and shared it so eloquently . We will miss his easy manner and expressive personality.
May he rest in Gods favour in the peace of heaven.
