Jim had an amazing knowledge and I really enjoyed his company as he would tell unique stories of history and times past, some of which we will never hear again. Sincere sympathy to the Tiernan family on Jim's passing. Jim was a pure gentleman and a wonderful neighbour. He often joined us for a cup of tea at the back of St Mary's when we held our monthly tea and chat after mass. Jim shared his interesting life story in the Annals of Arra a number of years back and also visited the local schools telling students what it was like to grow up on an island in Lough Derg.
