Just heard (12th Dec) of Jim's passing and indeed his illness. I studied with him in the IMI from 2005 to 2007 but sadly lost contact shortly after. He had this knack in lectures of always asking the most intelligent questions making the rest of us sit up and listen. I spent many a late night with him working on projects and just when you thought everything was wrapped up he would want to go that extra mile and analyse the issue from a few more angles. No wonder he won the Gold Medal.
Sincere condolences to Jackie, Chelsea and his extended family. May Jim rest in peace

Sending condolences to Ciara and all the family on the loss of Jim.We are keeping you in our thoughts at this time. May he rest in peace.
We send our condolences and sincere sympathy to Jim’s family and many friends on the sad occasion of his passing. As witnessed by the large attendance at his funeral Jim was greatly loved and admired, especially by all who knew him through music as a solo and choral singer and member of the Arklow Silver Band. His singing success influenced the formation of the Arklow Music Festival at which he performed and assisted (not forgetting the long involvement of his parents Paddy and May). All this was done with a great sense of fun and camaraderie which endured throughout his life. Music and singing are among the first things we hear and the last we forget even if other memories decline.
Rest in Peace, Jim and may you continue to enjoy singing but in a greater light.
Chorus angelorum te suscipiat.
