James (Jimi) Giles

So sorry to hear of the passing of an old comrade in the DFB I joined with Jimmy in 1976,& we were posted on the same watch he was an absolute laugh a minute a true gentleman who was never in bad form, unfortunately I was abroad at the time of the funeral but very much in my heart RiP jimmy

I'm so sad to hear Jimi has left us. Jimi was a good friend of my late mother, Stephanie. He used to make special visits to check on her, as all of us kids live abroad, and take her to hospital appointments in his taxi.
He was a devoted son too and we know he visited his Mam's grave if not every day, very frequently. When my Dad and a few years later my Mum died he also made sure to visit their graves in Glasnevin Cemetery to say a wee prayer on his way to his Mam's.

When he used to visit Mum and then after she died when we were sorting out the house he would regale us with stories from his army and fire service times and was always telling jokes. Once I went to see him sing in a pub in Tallaght I think.

I regret not keeping in touch and did not know he was ill. I'll have Latin mass said by the Marian Franciscans. Condolences to all his family.

I will always have very fond memories of dear Jimi. He had a good heart a quick wit and a fine voice.

Have only recently heard of the very sad and sudden passing of Jimi Giles sincere condolences to Jimi 's family and wide circle of friends .I had the great pleasure of meeting Jimi ,when my daughter Maria was with the Phibsboro People .Rest in Peace Ol Man River.
