Dear Catherine and James
It is with deep sadness that I heard today of your wonderful Dad Jimmy's sad passing
It was sadly too late for me to attend his funeral.
My sincerest and heartfelt sympathy to you both and to his beloved grandchildren Aaron and Matthew.
Your Dad and I were great friends.. For many years we sat together on the committee of Coolmine Swimming Club. He served a time as chairman of the club and under his very efficient hand and guidance it continued to expand and prosper and became one of the top swimming clubs in the country.
He was a true gentleman and gave his selfless time to the club and to the greater community.
He always used to say ' If you want something done, ask a busy person'. He was a busy person and he always got a lot done. He was firm and fair and asked of nobody more than he asked of himself. .Despite his busy career and involvement in the club, his real devotion was to you and your beloved Mam Teresa. Who, Like Jimmy was very involved in community matters. He was an exemplary family man.
Sadly , the years went by and as often happens we lost contact. . However I remember him with respect and fondness It was a privilege to have known him

My earliest memory is when we set up the Coolmine Residents Association and our first task was to get a Communal TV aerial for the area and the other was to organise swimming lessons for our children which we did in Castleknock College.
