My sincere condolence to the Bourke family on the passing of Jimmy. He was a very kind honest and hard working man who went above and beyond for me in the sports hall and we had a few laughs along the way.

I’m sorry to hear of Jimmy’s passing.I was great friends with his brother Billy .Jimmy had a great knowledge of local history and told me his father Billy senior served in Genoa Italy in WW1.I can also remember his mother Noni coming to visit my grandmother with her snuff box .She gave us some snuff in the kitchen when we were little and we spent the evening sneezing.She was great craic.
Billy Burke was born in one of the little houses on the lane going down to the old church.He attended mass in the old mail distribution centre near Aherne, pub on the Newport Road during the war as it was used to billet the Irish army who were busy cutting turf in Shower bog during the emergency.
