So saddened to learn of Jimmy's passing. We will miss his gentle nature, friendliness, engaging company and constant smile. His memory will live long with all of us who had the privilege of knowing him. His devotion and plantings in the gardens of the Hospital will also be an enduring tribute to Jimmy. He had a great sense of pride in his military service and in LPH.
On my own behalf and on behalf of the Board of the Hospital, I would like to extend deepest sympathies and condolences to Philly and to Jimmy's extended family and to all of his friends.
Rest in Peace our friend.

Jimmy, you were truly one of a kind. We will deeply miss your warm smile and the gentle way you walked through the garden. Everyone here in Leopardstown holds cherished memories of you — they mean so much to us. You brought joy, comfort, and kindness to our days, and your presence will never be forgotten.
Rest peacefully, Jimmy. You will always be remembered with love.

Having a resident like Jimmy in the Clevis made every day a joy. His ‘just get on with it’ attitude was infectious and inspiring. I loved hearing his stories and chatting to him on the grounds as he gardened. He was a gentleman, always appreciative and respectful. His smile went all the way to his eyes and dispute his best efforts to hide it, he was a real softie.
It was an honour to have known him a little. May he rest in well deserved peace.

Jimmy will be sadly missed here in Leopardstown hospital.
His broad warm smile, that twinkle in his eye, his willingness to share his limitless knowledge of all things gardening even though he knew that the green fingered gene was nowhere to be found in my body, he was one of life's lovely people.

Seeing Jimmy out with his wheelbarrow every morning as I arrived at LPH was such a joy. We had so many chats as he leaned on his shovel and admired his work, naming plants and sharing his plans. He often came to Chapel to sit in more pensive mood and he would remember his mates who never came home from Korea. He survived so much and I like to think of him now enjoying the most magnificent garden ever in Heaven.
Sincere condolences to Jimmy's family, at his passing.
Jimmy was unique, he lived a life of adventure,in the military, in the Fire Services, travelled the world. He wore his medals with pride particularly the one presented by the Korean ambassador, acknowledging his role in that conflict.
He brought a great spirit to LPH, loved gardening and contributed greatly to adding colour to our flower beds, which will serve as a lasting memorial.
He was a much valued member of our LPH family and will be sorely missed.

Jimmy, you were an absolute gentleman, who brought a gentle but strong presence to all who met you. Always loved our conversations and your passion for all things gardening, which brought such pleasure and connection to so many. Thanks for being willing to share some of your experiences and the insights they gave you on life and the world, from the 17 year old going to fight in the Korean war, through the Dublin and London fire brigades, all the various ups and downs of life, all the way through to your contribution to the Clevis/Leopardstown Park Hospital community. Jimmy you touched so many lives, including my own, and will remain in so many hearts. You will be missed.
