James (Jimmy) Martin

On behalf of Joe McAlinden who worked with jimmy in Arnotts for so many years. He loved jimmy and said he was the very best carpenter ever. When we were kids I remember Jimmy coming to the house from time to time and he was always chatting to us kids and tricking with us so many many years ago but we always thought he was lovely.

My sincerest condolences to Marie, John, Damien, Micheal and Declan, to Jimmy’s extended family and to all who loved him, and that list is endless.

Jimmy gave unselfishly of himself to the community of East Wall. He was involved in all the sports, the Community Games, swimming, basketball, the East Wall Festival.

Jimmy, in a most unassuming way, encouraged, inspired, guided and advised the youth of East Wall. He was a man who cared. There wasn’t a heart he didn’t touch.

Along with all his qualities, he was witty, very funny and always saw the funny side of every situation. He was great company and the consummate gentleman.

I am so honoured, as is the community of East Wall, to have known Jimmy Martin.
East Wall owes so much to Jimmy Martin, where he’ll be forever revered.

The family were greatly respected in East Wall, Marie and her beautiful voice, singing in the Church and all, great neighbours.
It was our loss when you left.

I wish the family the strength to work through their grief. The inimitable Jimmy Martin was an exceptional man, who will leave a big gap in your lives. You must be immensely proud of him, as both husband and Dad.

Another significant East Wall Community person has passed away. Jimmy was part of a great group with people like Jack and Bernie, and many others, who gave so much of their time and energy to East Wall - The Community Council, yearly week-long fantastic Festivals, Swimming Club with Galas. He organised, and took part in, so much fund-raising like sponsored walks to Howth, cycle to Cavan. And nights in B.R. Club - he was a lovely singer, along with Marie. Jimmy was a gifted craftsman and always so obliging and helpful. May he rest in peace.

My sincere sympathy to marie and the boys at this heartbreaking time for use I've got so many different memories of mr.martin from growing up on moyelta Road he was a gentleman and he did a lot for us as a family i remember the swimming in ringsend and the community games which he'd always be involved in and i remember my first time on a night out in the British rails club he was such a nice person and always had a smile i hope he's at peace now and gives marie and the boys the strength to get trough the next few days rest in peace mr.martin
