Deepest condolences on the passing of Jimmy.Jimmy was a great friend of my Dad's Paddy Hughes and they had many adventures traveling around Dublin and the country together.Im sure they are up there now together planning their next adventure.Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam
Sincere condolences to the extended Mc Cabe family. We were so sorry to just hear of Jimmy's passing. He was a true gentleman in every sense of the word and a fantastic friend to our Dad, Patsy Hughes or Pat from Ferguson Road. The two of them were fantastic together from their grá for all things sport to politics and road trips all over Ireland. He always laughed telling the story of the backup on the M7 due to my Dad having a chat with an old friend working on the toll booth oblivious to the line of cars behind them. Rest in peace Jimmy, you'll be greatly missed.
My deepest sympathies to the McCabe family on the passing of your beloved James. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time.

Deepest sympathies to all of Jimmy's family. Like many others, I had the pleasure of living in Jimmy's home while in Dublin. Jimmy was kind and welcoming and always showed a great interest in stories from home in Cavan and my teaching in Tallaght. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
Deepest sympathies to Fintan and the McCabe Family. Jay was a pure gentleman, witty and very genuine. May he rest in peace.
We are so sorry to hear of the passing of our good friend and wonderful neighbour. Homefarm road will not be the same without him.
Deepest condolences to Fintan, Gary, Emer, June and all of the extended family.
I am so sorry to learn of Jimmy’s passing. He was a true gentleman with a heart of gold.
We first met when I took my first steps into adulthood by making the move to Dublin for college. Little did I know when I was leaving my family home I was about to enter my what would become my second home. Jimmy was one of a kind. He was warm hearted, generous of spirit and incredibly talented. There was no task too big for Jimmy. He would spend hours toiling in his workshop out the back coming up with nifty little inventions to make our home better or to help out one of his many friends on the road.
Home Farm road was more than a road to him, it was a huge chapter in his life where neighbours became friends and those friends became family. Down through the years it became very apparent how highly these people regarded Jimmy. His door was always open to visitors and the phone never far from hand to be ready to answer a call.
His home was one filled with love and laughter. His stories of working in the Adelaide, his encounters with folks down through the years and his time in both Baileborough and Ardee were always so entertaining.
I will always be forever grateful to Jimmy for taking me in and opening up his home to me. I will cherish the memories we made in 65 forever. May you rest in peace Jimmy. Heaven has gained an angel in you.

We are so deeply saddened to hear about Jimmy’s passing. He was a true gentleman and became like part of the family when our daughter stayed with him during her college days. We shared many stories over a cup of tea or a home cooked dinner when you would make the trip to see us in Cavan. We will cherish those memories and your kindness down through the years forever.
May you rest in peace.

As everyone who had any dealings with Jim knows, he was a totally genuine, hard working, and very entertaining man, who will be badly missed.

I was so sad to hear about Jim's death. He was a kind, generous and fun neighbour. There are so many houses on this road that are safer and more comfortable because of his help and advice. He was a great person to chat with and had such a positive and kindly outlook on life. He will be greatly missed. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
Our deepest sympathy to all of Jim's Family. He was a very popular neighbour on the road - always with a smile of greeting - may he enjoy his reward in Heaven.
My sincere coldences to James' family. I was saddened to hear of his passing.
I have very fond memories of my first year in St. Pat's, when James was kind enough to welcome us into his home on Home Farm Road.
He was an absolute gentleman and it was lovely to sit in his company and listen to him regale stories of years gone by.
A kinder, gentler soul one could not meet.

Sincere condolences to Emer, Gary, Fintan and all the McCabe family and friends at this difficult time. May you rest in peace Jimmy. You were one of the kindest and the most creative handymen I have met to date. With a grá for Jimmy Shand’s music band and the ability to make any visitor laugh with your witty humour and stories. I will remain eternally grateful for you welcoming myself and my fellow cavan friends into your home and treating us like family during our college years 2018-2021. Homefarm road will always be referred to as “Jimmy’s road”. RIP
I am deeply saddened to hear of Jimmys passing. I first met Jimmy four years ago as I began my degree in primary school teaching in st. Pats college. He gave me a room in his home for the duration of my studies, which I was very grateful for. He loved to hear how myself and the girls were getting on in college and loved to see us doing well. The last time I spoke to him earlier this summer he was so excited that I was qualified and on the job hunt. Having gotten my first job in the Drumcondra area I am saddened not to be able to call in for the chats anymore. Jimmy will be dearly missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
Sincere condolence to Fintan and the McCabe family on the sad passing of Jimmy.

My sincere condolences to the McCabe family on the sad passing of James. I always enjoyed the chats with him over the years here on Home Farm Rd. Memories of John and Paddy come to mind as they both came to the shop as Sales Reps for Savage Smyth and Tayto. All great characters with lots of interesting stories and full of good humour. May they all rest in peace.
Jimmy may you rest in peace,

I am so sorry to hear of Jimmy’s passing. I stayed with Jimmy for two years while studying in St. Pat’s, DCU, and I will always remember him as a true gentleman. I have very fond memories of my time there, filled with his countless stories shared over many cups of tea. He was always eager to help me prepare for teaching practice, and many of his tales from school and local knowledge found their way into my own lessons. His presence will be deeply missed on Home Farm Road. My sincere condolences to all his family.
I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Jimmy. He was not only my landlord but also a true friend, whose kindness and warmth left a lasting mark on my life. I will always cherish the memories of my time in Drumcondra, where Jimmy’s generosity and good spirit made it feel like home. His presence will be dearly missed, but the fond moments we shared will remain with me always.

I am very sorry to hear about Jimmys passing. My condolences to his family and all those who were close to Jimmy. He opened his home and accommodated me as I worked in dublin for a year. He would always have a smile and a story to tell once you stepped foot inside his home. He passed on so much knowledge to anyone he met. Home Farm Road won’t be the same place without him.
May he rest in Peace.

I first met Jimmy as a first year setting out on my teaching degree in St. Pat’s. He took me in and gave me a place to call home for the four years of my college journey. Today I heard the sad news of Jimmy’s passing right as I move on to the next stage in my first teaching job. I will fondly remember his endless stories, memories and projects. He always enjoyed hearing any updates from back home in Bailieborough. May he rest in peace. Thinking of all his extended family during this difficult time.
Heartfelt condolences to Jimmy’s family, neighbours and friends. I was lucky enough to have known Jimmy and stayed with him during my time in Dublin.
He was a wonderful character with many great stories from times spent in Cavan, Louth and his work in The Adelaide Hospital.
Rest in Peace Jimmy

I’m so sorry to hear about Jimmy’s passing. I was incredibly lucky to have lived in his home as a student during my time in Dublin. He was always so kind and welcoming, and I always enjoyed listening to his stories and memories. He truly made the house feel like home, and I’ll always be grateful for that. Sending my heartfelt wishes and condolences to his family at this difficult time.
Sincere condolences to Jimmy's entire family; we were fortunate to know Jimmy and appreciate the generosity he showed us.
May Jimmy rest peace.

Jimmy… my old friend! I am absolutely devastated to hear of your passing.
You took me in as a 2nd year student in St. Pat’s and treated me as one of your own for 2 years. Your home was warm, welcoming and a great source of stories about your days as a chap in Cavan, your time working in the hospital, your projects over the years... I still smile when I think of you putting the roof on your brother’s house during your Christmas break even though the blocklayer hadn’t finished the job as promised before taking his leave! How we laughed at the shock he must’ve had getting back to site after his holidays and the roof propped up over the blocks! You certainly meant business when it came to doing anything.
I will always regret not getting back to see you again this year. You were a great ally to John and I as we started out on life’s journey. We both learned so much from you & carry your advice with us still to this day.
I know you have earned the best bed in Heaven as a reward for all the good you did on Earth.
Thanks for everything, Jimmy. You will be sorely missed. Rest peacefully.
