I was very sorry to hear that Joe and Peter's dad had passed away , my condolences to Mrs Murray, Jim , Joe Peter , Maureen , Brien and Therese. He was a true gentleman , always very friendly . He was also a very good footballer and I have fond memories of playing football with him and all his sons in templeogue college sports field back in the 1980's , great days. May he rest in peace . To Mrs Murray, Jim, Joe, Peter, Maureen, Brian and Therese. We were all so very sorry to hear of the sad passing of your Dad. Your big loving family were such an institution on Rockfield Avenue and your parents a most loving couple. Your Dad always complimented mine and Barbara's singing which we took as high praise from a man that knew his music :) I think our fondest memories of our childhood was that Christmas that we had the big snow that turned our road into an ice rink! The best New Years party for miles and miles as your Dad put his big speakers out the window of 109 and played the top hits of the time. I've no doubt he'll be on the turntable above and he'll make sure everyone up there gets up on the heavenly dancefloor!

I remember Jimmy Murray when I was 16 and a regular in Murrays Record Store in Dun Laoghaire. I was very interested in music and he was always very good to me. If I thought I liked a record, he would put it on the turntable in the booth so I could listen to it. I bought my first album in Murray’s - Diana Ross and the Supremes. It took me about eight weeks to save up the money. Lovely fond memories of Murray’s, both upstairs with Jimmy behind the counter and downstairs playing on the football machine.

Rockfield will not be the same without your lovely Dad who gave us all such great memories on New Year's Eve. I've travelled the world but to this day New Year's Eve has never been as good as linking arms with the neighbours on the road and belting out Auld Lang Syne with the music coming from the biggest speakers in the world! Buying vinyl singles in Stillorgan when a new No.1 was released was also special. Your Dad and my Dad can talk forever now about the latest football results and resolve the worlds problems from Heaven! I was privileged to watch the funeral from Budapest this morning. Thank you for the memories Mr Murray. RIP.

Very sad to hear of Jimmy's parting, he was a lovely chap, I lived in the cafe when I was youngster.

Farewell, Jimmy - you were a great friend to an entire generation of the youth of Dun Laoghaire and your memory will live on in our appreciation of good music. Thank you for accommodating us in your shop and for knowing our musical preferences - you always got it right!

I remember as a child Jimmy playing football with us out in the back garden, the nights he brought us to Dun Laoghaire to fish for Mackerel and the many New Year's Eve celebrations out on the road. He was such a lovely kind man; he always had time for us as kids growing up. Rest in peace Jimmy.
