James (Jimmy) Nally

Jimmy Nally was a giant in the community life of the Garrymore region. He was an outstanding ambassador for the region and a joy to meet on my many visits over the years to the wonderful GAA club that is Garrymore. His welcome was warm and genuine and he represented all that is good about Garrymore and its special place in the annals of Mayo football folklore. Jimmy had an abiding fondness for the farming community and was involved with various groups as well as the Roundfort Agricultural Show. Fine Gael was his party when it came to politics but he had just as loyal friends all across the political sprectrum. That was the true measure of this noble gentleman. Jimmy was a gem and he will be remembered with great fondness and huge respect by all of us who had the privilege of knowing him. I extend condolences to Kathleen, their son Gareth and their daughter Claire, in-laws, grandchildren, his brothers Vincent and Michael, and the family circle on the passing of Jimmy. Rest in peace. .
